CORE Mental Health

CORE Fellowship Program

The deadline for applications extended to Sept. 15, 2025.

CORE is offering up to 10 fellowships, each with a $2,000 award, to Black/African American graduate students in Massachusetts who are pursuing degrees in mental health (Clinical Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, or other related programs) and are required to complete paid or unpaid internships as part of their studies.

To date, CORE has offered 63 fellowships (totaling $126,000) – several pictured here.

CORE Fellows are required to

  • Attend a panel featuring experienced Black/African American mental health leaders
  • Participate in two 2-hour meetings with Black leaders in the field.

Fellowships

Our fellowships recognize both the critical need for more Black/African American professionals in the mental health field and the financial barriers created by unpaid internships, compounded by the significant wealth gap experienced by Black/African American communities.

Fellows benefit from a panel discussion with seasoned Black/African American providers, who share their experiences entering the field and offer practical guidance on sustaining their well-being while doing this important work. The program is designed to help fellows build a strong, supportive network of Black/African American mental health professionals.
